What's a Wiki?
A wiki is a collaborative environment for sharing information with your colleagues. Its design makes it easy to create and edit new pages of information, and any wiki user can make whatever changes he or she wants to any page.
The Phonetics Lab Wiki is primarily intended to introduce you to the resources of the UCSD Phonetics Laboratory. Once acquainted with the ins and outs of the lab, the Wiki also allows you to modify and add information based on your own experiences using the lab and its equipment. Additionally, you may use the Wiki to create pages relating to your own research, which can be viewed by your colleagues. Please note that the content of the UCSD Phonetics Lab Wiki is available only to registered users, administrators, etc. It is not available to anonymous users, even those inside the UCSD Linguistics Department.
Getting started
How do I become a registered user?
- At the minimum, you must be affiliated with the UCSD Linguistics Department.
- To set up an account, please contact Ryan Shosted in the Phonetics Lab.
- Once you have a username and password, you can proceed directly to Log in.
Once I'm a registered user, how do I edit / add pages?
Consult the User's Guide for information on using the wiki software (formatting guidelines, headers, etc.).
A few quick hints:
- Just click the edit tab on a page you would like to edit (note that a very few pages have restricted access and/or cannot be edited by users, including the main page)
- To add a page, type the name of your new page surrounded by two sets of square brackets, save the page, then click on the new page name (it should be in red if you used the right brackets) then start adding content!
